Our Score
Rosalind Russell went into independent film-making with her husband, producer Frederick Brisson, and played safe with this formulaic and lifeless melodrama. She plays the Broadway star who kills her former lover in an argument and lets another actress, played by Claire Trevor, take the blame. The brightest move was the casting of portly Sydney Greensteet as a theatre-loving police captain in awe of Russell. Not so bright was the casting of stolid Leo Genn as her English boyfriend.

A famous actress accidentally kills her husband, and appears to have a ready-made alibi. But with a suspicious police captain hanging round, is it a risk worth taking? Thriller, starring Rosalind Russell, Sydney Greenstreet, Leo Glenn and Claire Trevor.
