This dismal attempt to turn Colin MacInnes's cult novel about the birth of the teenage nation in Britain into a 1980s Expresso Bongo without the talents of Cliff Richard was a huge flop at the box office. Will fashion designer Patsy Kensit choose romance with trendy photographer Eddie O'Connell or toff couturier James Fox in this highly stylised view of 1950s pop culture and changing social mores? You won't care - and nor did the cinema-going public - in another rock'n'roll swindle perpetrated by director Julien Temple. But songs by David Bowie, Ray Davies, Sade and the Style Council do help lighten the lively, if vacuous, load. And where else could you see the Notting Hill riots set to music!

A photographer in 1950s London sells out to big business in the hope of wresting his dream girl back from the clutches of an unscrupulous fashion magnate. Musical, starring Patsy Kensit, Eddie O'Connell, James Fox, David Bowie, Lionel Blair, Ray Davies, Steven Berkoff and Alan Freeman.
