In this watchable thriller-cum-romance, unscrupulous prison warden Eric Breker attempts to further his political career by manipulating an unjustly sentenced inmate (Andrew Walker) into kidnapping Breker's wife. But a pedestrian script and cheap visuals initially hamstring the handsome con's desperate actions, rendering them rather anaemic compared with Breker's enjoyably pantomimic villainy. Fortunately, solid acting from Sarah Wynter as the increasingly willing abductee adds an emotional dimension that sets the film up for a stronger second half. Events become more interesting and complex as her relationship with Walker develops, tightening the pace as they plan their revenge.
