Our Score
Director Chadd Harbold tries to tap into a David Lynch-meets-Coen brothers vibe with his debut feature. A bizarre tale of vengeance and retribution, it stars Brian Petsos (the film's scriptwriter) as dead-eyed, deadpan loner Harry, whose world falls apart when his beloved pet dog is murdered. Stirred from his suburban torpor, Harry vows to find the canine killer and embarks on a mayhem-filled road trip in the company of his beer-guzzling stoner cousin, Cecil (Oscar Isaac). The fact Petsos is the spitting image of Crispin Glover demonstrates the type of weirdness the film-makers aspire to emulate. But Petsos has none of that maverick actor's cult charisma. At least Isaac (prior to his breakthrough role in Inside Llewyn Davis) is watchable - his befuddled response to all the random violence and death (particularly when the dopey duo crash a wedding reception) suiting the blackly comic tone. However his performance and pop-up cameos from the likes of Elijah Wood, Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillippe just can't hide the feeling this would have been more effective as a short film, not a full-blown feature.

A man who loves his dog more than anything else wakes from a drinking binge to find his four-legged friend has been killed under mysterious circumstances. He loads his car up with all the guns he can find and sets off on a rampage of destruction to find the person responsible. Comedy, starring Brian Petsos, Kristen Wiig and Elijah Wood.
