Review

A star rating of 4 out of 5.

James Gandolfini gives one of his final performances in this adult-skewed tale of love, its demise and the lessons learned. He plays Albert, a recent divorcee who meets masseuse Eva (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) at a party - the same get-together where Eva begins a parallel friendship with Marianne (Catherine Keener), a successful poet who endlessly disparages her ex-husband. Fat bellies, slobby behaviour and a lack of adequate bedroom furniture all play a role in making the course of true love as bumpy as possible. Written and directed by Nicole Holofcener (Friends with Money, Please Give) and dedicated to the late Gandolfini, Enough Said boasts laughs that are light and lilting, occasionally veering into dangerous waters only to return to calm again. A fresh, hopeful look at love, this is wise, funny and heartbreaking.
