This is one of the finest entries in Britain's most popular comedy series. Mocking that other bastion of British cinema in the 1960s, the Hammer horror film, Talbot Rothwell's script positively bristles with classic one-liners, the most memorable being Kenneth Williams's gleeful "Frying tonight!" as he sinks into a bubbling cauldron. In his only Carry On, Harry H Corbett is superb as a Holmesian detective, and Fenella Fielding revels in her role as a vampish vampire, but the picture belongs to Williams as the undead Dr Watt, an amalgam of every mad scientist who ever set foot in a lab.
Plot Summary
