Our Score
An unconventional London detective with an anger-management problem finds himself on the trail of a serial killer targeting cops in Elliott Lester's violent crime thriller. Action star Jason Statham gives a good account of himself as the no-nonsense Detective Brant, handy with his fists and ready with a wry one-liner, but an unoriginal plot and a general lack of excitement don't do justice to either him or the high-calibre supporting cast. Worthwhile turns from Paddy Considine (as a gay policeman battling prejudices), David Morrissey (as a hack journo) and Aidan Gillen ensure that there's always someone worth watching, but procedural developments simply spend too long idling in second gear. To his credit, Lester comes up with a fresh vision of London - all urban underpasses and crumbling 1960s modernist architecture - but should have worked harder to make his film live up to its evident franchise potential.

An uncompromising police detective's career is under threat when his violent methods are exposed by a reporter. However, he is kept on duty as he is considered the only man capable of stopping an elusive serial killer, one who is preying on police officers. Crime thriller, starring Jason Statham, Aidan Gillen, Paddy Considine and David Morrissey.
