A nightclub ladies' toilet is the setting for this life-in-microcosm comedy from director MJ Delaney. Set during the course of one serious night of clubbing, all human life is portrayed here, with its micro-dramas, micro-comedies, throw-ups and put-downs. Though it's probably women who will recognise and appreciate the antics on show, Delaney's debut feature avoids ghettoising itself as female-only viewing by pandering, one suspects, to what men imagine goes on behind the closed doors of a ladies' loo. Sheridan Smith and Jaime Winstone are the star names in an energetic and committed cast that also includes singer Kate Nash. But it's Johnnie Fiori as the powder room's ever-present attendant, who quietly steals the show. She may not have much dialogue, but her disapproving looks speak volumes. Brash and bawdy, this is one ladies' loo that's no inconvenience to visit.
