A fascinating early work from Robert Altman about the planning of a mission to the Moon and its effect on the lives of those involved. There are early signs of what would become Altman trademarks (the large cast; the cool, documentary air) and he coaxes fine, naturalistic performances from a pre-stardom James Caan and Robert Duvall - later to be reunited in The Godfather) - as the two astronauts, only one of whom will go on the mission.
Plot Summary
Drama starring James Caan, Joanna Moore and Robert Duvall. When the US Space Agency learns that the Russians are close to landing a man on the Moon, an urgent programme gets under way to train an astronaut for a lunar flight.
