Age of Heroes

Our Score
The real-life exploits of James Bond creator Ian Fleming are the inspiration for Adrian Vitoria's old-fashioned yet enjoyable Second World War adventure, which overcomes the limitations of a modest budget with some good performances and a lot of stiff-upper-lip integrity. Sean Bean stars as Jones, who's ordered by intelligence officer Fleming (James D'Arcy) to put together a team to go under cover in occupied Norway and destroy a Nazi communications post. If caught, the British government will deny all knowledge - but there's a sense of familiarity that suggests most, if not all, of the team will make it home in one piece. Bean and Danny Dyer (as a headstrong corporal released from military prison for the operation) butt heads in an engaging manner, and the icy locations add an atmospheric backdrop. It's just a shame that the hurried, offbeat ending brings it all to a sudden and underwhelming finish.

A British army corporal is recruited into an elite commando unit under the command of a battle-hardened major during the Second World War. The soldiers are sent on a dangerous mission into occupied Norway to capture a vital German radar installation. Action adventure, with Sean Bean, Danny Dyer, Izabella Miko and James D'Arcy.
