Danielle Steel's Remembrance

Danielle Steel's Remembrance

Bethany Rooney (1996)

PG Certificate

Our Score
The novel from which this TV movie was taken is a classic example of a Danielle Steel potboiler. Once such "women's pictures" were a Hollywood staple, attracting stars of the calibre of Joan Crawford and Barbara Stanwyck. Eva LaRue may not be in their league, but she suffers nobly here as the Italian wife of an American army officer who's frozen out of the family by hellish mother-in-law Angie Dickinson. Directed with exemplary overstatement by Bethany Rooney, this is undemanding escapism of the tear-jerking kind.

A woman struggles to confront the facts behind her mother's murder, including a doomed love affair cut short by the horrors of the Korean War, and a passionate relationship with a high-flying photographer who hides a dark secret. Drama, starring Angie Dickinson, Eva LaRue and Jeffrey Nordling.
