Our Score
In this rattlingly good chiller set on the Trans-Siberian railway at the turn of the 20th century, what is believed to be a frozen Missing Link starts to revive in the presence of classic horror movie stars Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, here playing rival anthropologists. The suspense is kept to a maximum by the clever and beautifully timed editing of Robert Dearberg, who deserved better movies: just study the opening sequence and guess how little material he had to work with. As in the previous year's Pancho Villa, director Eugenio (Gene) Martin is unable to control Telly Savalas, who this time chews the scenery as the leader of a group of Cossacks.
