Our Score
A litter of cuddly cougar cubs comes close to upstaging the cute hero in the final film (to date) in the Benji series. It was made seven years after Oh, Heavenly Dog!, but the passage of time did little to refresh director Joe Camp's imagination, as the plot is nothing more than a cross-breed between a Lassie movie and Disney adventures such as The Incredible Journey. However, with a shipwreck, a trek through the wilderness and a series of murderous attacks, it's packed with enough incident to retain the interest even of children with short attention spans.

Summary

Talented mongrel Benji is separated from his trainer in a shipwreck and ends up stranded in the Canadian wilderness - where he becomes foster father to a litter of orphaned cougar cubs. However, a hungry timber wolf is also prowling in the area, and looks set to clash with the courageous dog. Disney adventure, starring Red Steagall, Frank Inn and Nancy Francis.
