Our Score
After losing out to Daniel Craig as Bond, Pierce Brosnan revelled in a string of bad-boy roles: The Matador, Married Life - and this. Brosnan plays a gun-toting thug who takes hostage a successful and seemingly happily married couple (Gerard Butler, Maria Bello), tells them he is holding their child, then blackmails them into dismantling their perfectly ordered lives. There is, of course, a hidden agenda for it all. Brosnan overacts a bit, as he has a habit of doing. And the twist ending strains credulity somewhat. But decent performances and glossy production values mean this just about sustains the interest.

Summary

A couple expect a ransom demand when their daughter is kidnapped - but the mysterious criminal responsible is not interested in money. Instead, the kidnapper insists they obey his every instruction over the next 24 hours, forcing them into a course of action that will destroy their ordered, comfortable lives. And the final task is the most horrific of all. Thriller, starring Pierce Brosnan, Gerard Butler and Maria Bello.
