Review

Our Score
Mercilessly mocked by Harry Enfield in his brilliant spoof Norbert Smith, a Life, this is the epitome of the "it's trad, dad" musical. The "putting on a show" format was as old as the talkies, but Sidney J Furie - who directed the slick espionage thriller The Ipcress File four years later - spruces it up with the help of a sprightly Cliff Richard, the Shadows and Robert Morley, who's on top form as the millionaire father who refuses to cough up the dough needed to save a youth club. The songs are a hit-and-miss bunch, but it all makes for amiable entertainment.

Summary

A clean-cut teenager records a pop song in a bid to save his youth club, which a greedy tycoon wants to demolish so he can build an office block. Musical, starring Cliff Richard and the Shadows, with Robert Morley, Melvyn Hayes, Richard O'Sullivan and Carole Gray.
