3 out of 5
Following the wildly successful 2009 comedy, this sequel takes us on another trip to even more "far out" realms. Bangkok is a menacing backdrop compared to glitzy Las Vegas, but the scene is otherwise the same with Phil, Alan and Stu (Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms) waking up minus one of their stag party - Teddy (Mason Lee), the brother of Stu's bride-to-be, whose severed finger offers the only clue as to what happened the night before. Again, the lads trawl the mean streets to find him, but the mystery is less compelling, with director/co-writer Todd Phillips essentially retracing steps from the first film and refreshing old jokes, such as Stu falling foul of another stripper. Galifianakis is just as goofy and Cooper as nonchalant, but it's the less flashy Helms who gels the team. The trio's sheer haplessness is still funny, even when they're sober.
Plot Summary
Phil, Stu and Alan reunite in Bangkok for another stag weekend, but having learned the lessons of their previous misadventures, resolve to keep this one quiet and alcohol-free. Things inevitably do not go according to plan, and they must once again piece together the events of a wild night they cannot remember. Comedy sequel, starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis.
