Review

Our Score
A great deal of negative energy swirled around this haunted-house horror on release in 2011. Its golden stars, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, seemed reluctant to promote it, and its talented Irish director, Jim Sheridan (more suited to intelligent drama like In the Name of the Father or In America), tried to have his name removed after rows with the studio. But strip all that away and you're left with an entertaining enough yuppie nightmare. Craig and Weisz escape New York with their adorable daughters to a rural idyll where he intends to write. Inevitably, a mysterious figure skulks outside and they find something in the attic. Further investigation reveals a shocking truth about the house's history and the big-impact twist is revealed much earlier than tradition dictates. There's quality support from Naomi Watts and Elias Koteas, and enough jumps and surprises to keep you interested. And, hey, it's got Daniel Craig in it!

Horror, starring Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz.
