Your Highness

Director David Gordon Green applies the same rowdy style of his Pineapple Express to this mock medieval romp. Natalie Portman stars as a feisty fighting princess who helps pot-smoking slacker prince Danny McBride and his heroic brother (James Franco) after the latter's ditsy fiancée (Zooey Deschanel) is whisked off by a wizard. The rough-hewn if daft adventure follows a predictable course, with plenty of puerile set pieces along the way, while the largely improvised dialogue is amusing (albeit heavy on the expletives). With a terrific supporting cast that includes Charles Dance, Justin Theroux and Toby Jones, Your Highness is a well-made but lowbrow period comedy with limited appeal.

Plot Summary

Dashing Prince Fabious is the greatest hero in the kingdom, while his younger brother Thadeous is a lazy, self-centred fool. When the princess Fabious is due to marry is kidnapped by an evil wizard, the two brothers must go on a dangerous quest to rescue her, with a little help from a vengeful warrior woman. Fantasy comedy, with Danny McBride, James Franco and Natalie Portman.
