There's more than a hint of Local Hero in this feel-good fantasy drama from director John Henderson. The script had been around for a decade before Ted Danson signed up as the scientist sent to the Highlands to disprove the existence of Nessie. Naturally, his investigation is sidetracked by romance and the self-interested schemes of the locals before he, too, becomes convinced by the legend. Although Danson is a touch bland, Joely Richardson turns in a doughty performance as the single mum whose daughter knows a thing or two about "water kelpies".

Plot Summary
