Greyfriars Bobby: the True Story of a Dog

Greyfriars Bobby: the True Story of a Dog

Don Chaffey (1961)

U Certificate

Our Score
Forget the accents and the shabby sets, this is Disney at its delightful best. The true story of the Skye terrier who refused to desert its master after his burial in an Edinburgh kirkyard is irresistible, and is never allowed to become maudlin or tacky for a second. Laurence Naismith, Donald Crisp and Kay Walsh judge their performances to perfection and director Don Chaffey does well to restrain the enthusiasm of the youngsters. But no one's eyes will be anywhere other than on the little dog. Don't be ashamed to cheer when he's granted the freedom of the city.
