It's kill or die in this gritty yet absurdly message-heavy vehicle for former wrestling star Steve Austin. Armed with bulldozer fists and predictably pithy dialogue, he plays one of ten death-row convicts fighting for their lives and freedom in a sadistic Battle Royale-style internet reality show. Grimy, shaky-cam visuals and a pumping soundtrack accentuate the brainless barrage of sweat, blood and rage that follows, as Austin and his hammy main rival Vinnie Jones race around the isolated island location in full, slam-bang, fan-pleasing mode. But what begins as an enjoyably exaggerated action flick sours in the clumsy final act, when director and co-writer Scott Wiper hypocritically criticises precisely the type of screen violence and voyeurism this movie celebrates.
Plot Summary
Action thriller starring Steve Austin and Vinnie Jones. Ten condemned killers from around the world are brought together on an isolated island by a television mogul and told they must fight to the death, with the promise of freedom for the last one standing.
