Intacto director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo's sequel to Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later... retains the grim tone and sense of dread but on a more epic scale. Survivors of the rage virus infection that devastated Britain are now quarantined on London's Isle of Dogs, as the US army tries to oversee the resettlement of the city. Among them are Don (Robert Carlyle), whose wife Alice (Catherine McCormack) is presumed dead. But when the couple's kids discover her alive - and apparently immune to the virus - the consequences are both far-reaching and deadly, with army scientist Rose Byrne struggling to develop a life-saving vaccine. Frantic documentary-style camerawork places the viewer at the heart of the unfolding horror, and there's a clear parallel with Iraq in the spectacle of occupying foreign forces exacerbating the crisis. Evoking terror imagery from George A Romero's The Crazies and his Dead movies, Fresnadillo expertly orchestrates the galvanising, gory action as Canary Wharf goes up in flames.
Plot Summary
Horror thriller sequel to 28 Days Later..., starring Rose Byrne, Catherine McCormack and Robert Carlyle. "Rage" virus survivor Don is reunited with his children, Tammy and Andy, on London's Isle of Dogs as the US military tries to resettle the city. Tammy and Andy break quarantine and embark on a dangerous journey to the abandoned family home to find a photograph of their missing mother, Alice.
