Series 2 - 3. Jackson and the Women

Jackson Brodie’s relationship with his new girlfriend Charlotte (Monarch of the Glen and Wild at Heart’s Dawn Steele) is coming along very nicely, thank you, so he has a bit of a spring in his step and, unusually, a smile on his face in the last of a brief series. (And who knew he was the kind of bloke to have fairy lights strung around his bed?)

But romantic complications are never far away when he spots his ex, Julia, the bonkers actress, filming a TV drama in Edinburgh. At one point Jackson’s women, both past and present, including long-suffering and unhappy Detective Louise Munroe (Amanda Abbington), are gathered in one place, looking at him.

Still, there is work to be done, when the son of a murdered woman wants Jackson (brilliant Jason Isaacs) to find out who killed his mum. By the end, the detective has learnt a valuable life lesson.

About this programme

3/3. Jackson helps a teenage boy understand how his mother really died. Aiden Kelso is not convinced by the deathbed confession of the serial killer convicted of murdering his mother 15 years previously and calls on the PI to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, just as Jackson and Louise seem to be getting their relationship back on track as friends, love and work create conflicts that the pair find difficult to overcome. Crime drama, starring Jason Isaacs and Amanda Abbington. Last in the series.
