Doctor Who

Series 7 - 6. The Bells of Saint John

At last the Doctor has tracked down Clara Oswald, aka the Woman Twice Dead, and she’s living in modern London as a childminder. They don’t hit it off immediately, partly because of the weird garb he first turns up in (not the rather fabulous purple tweed below) and the fact that she suspects his police box is a “snogging booth”. But the chemistry is soon fizzing between Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman, who’s surely destined to become a hugely popular companion — and a head-scratching enigma in the next few weeks.

Tonight, series seven resumes after a very long interval with a breezy thrill ride across the capital, up aloft among its landmarks, as technology turns against humanity. “We’re living in a wi-fi soup,” warns the Time Lord. “Suppose there was something in the wi-fi harvesting human minds...” Are we one mouse click away from a living death? The trail leads to the high-rise offices of Miss Kizlet (an icy turn from Celia Imrie), but who, or what, is her mysterious client?

About this programme

6/13. The bowtie-wearing Time Lord finds himself in modern-day London in his search for Clara Oswald, the mysterious, souffle-baking woman who keeps dying. But there's a problem. Something dangerous is lurking in the city's wi-fi signals, uploading people's minds and imprisoning them - and among those targeted is none other than the woman he has travelled halfway across the galaxy to find. Matt Smith stars, with Jenna-Louise Coleman making her first official appearance as new companion Clara (having played ill-fated variations of the character in two previous episodes) and Celia Imrie.
