Tonight’s story begins slowly then spirals into nightmarish horror by the end. Be warned — Casualty is generally best avoided by those with delicate stomachs, but the later scenes tonight find a whole new way to make us recoil from the screen, conjuring a type of grisly agricultural accident that last year, in the real world, claimed several lives.
Paramedic Jeff takes the limelight for once, as he’s called to a building site with collapsed scaffolding, where his mates on the fire service are trying to pull out victims using hi-tech gear. “Boys toys and a hazardous extraction? OurJeffrey is going to be in his element,” notes Dixie. Both he and nurse Robyn become involved in a firefighter’s marital woes. And then... well then it gets messy.
