Coverage of the last public audience held by Pope Benedict XVI before he officially steps down as the Bishop of Rome tomorrow, becoming the first pontiff to retire since Gregory XII resigned from the office nearly six centuries ago. From Thursday, the German-born patriarch will take the title of Emeritus Pope, and will continue to reside within the Vatican's city-state alongside his eventual successor.
