About this programme
4/16. Tony Robinson and the archaeologists excavate the site of the world's first purpose-built PoW camp, which was constructed to incarcerate 7,000 of Napoleon's troops in 1797 at Norman Cross in Cambridgeshire. The team is particularly interested in locating the cemetery where more than 2,000 inmates were buried after dying from diseases contracted in the camp - and their search leads them to discover how degraded prisoners' lives could be.
