The Bikers prepare a party for a group of volunteers at Swansea Community Farm. They’re a hard-working bunch who have just completed work on a new kitchen, and staff want to say thank you with a slap-up meal.
Si King and Dave Myers have a mere £100 to feed 35 people, but luckily it’s a working farm so there’s some nice fresh pork from its pigs and vegetables from its gardens.
We watch the Bikers make a centrepiece with a spun sugar orb, and get tips on how to “posh up fish fillets” by baking them in parchment, or, as Myers has it “fancy fish in a bag to you and me”.
About this programme
4/6. Si King and Dave Myers demonstrate how to create a gourmet party on a tight budget, preparing cut-price canapes, cakes and tasty treats, with Michelin-starred chef Nigel Haworth giving advice on vegetarian food. Finally, they put everything they have learned to the test when they arrange a surprise celebration for 35 farm volunteers.
