While Fairport Convention, credited as the first British folk-rock band, prepare for their annual tour, their assorted members must be asking, “Who knows where the time goes?” That’s a little nod towards all FC fans, who are legion in number, hence the band’s 46 years of making music with various illustrious line-ups including Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny and Dave Swarbrick.

Simon Nicol is the sole founding member left in the band but their unique sound remains intact. Radio 2 listeners voted Who Knows Where the Time Goes? their Favourite Folk Track of All Time, by the way.
