In Britain, more than seven million tonnes of food and drink are thrown away every year, with most of that waste occurring at the very end of the supply chain - in homes and in restaurants. Jonathan Maitland explores the steps people can take to reduce the amount of food they throw away, asks what restaurants are doing to address the problem and visits a supermarket that believes it is well on the way to becoming waste-free.
