The cult hit from the 1980s has been reimagined for the Twilight generation and it’s a very strange animal indeed. This is a world where everyone who works for the NYPD is under 30 and beautiful, while the Beast of the title is less a leonine enigma and more a bland hunk shot permanently in half-light. The casting of Smallville’s Kristin Kreuk should attract some, but whether she can establish a rapport with new co-star Jay Ryan remains to be seen.
