Public Speaking

About this programme

Martin Scorsese directs this profile of Fran Lebowitz, an author and columnist who has been one of the major figures in New York's literary scene since Andy Warhol hired her to write for Interview magazine in the early 1970s. The film follows her as she tours the city's streets and reflects on their changing nature, as well as capturing her in conversation at the Waverly Inn and in an on-stage discussion with Nobel Prize-winning novelist Toni Morrison.
