Series 10 - 1. Extreme Prejudice

Believing the Navy to be responsible for the death of his son, Harper Dearing’s attacks have culminated in his blowing up NCIS headquarters. As season ten of the top-rated US drama begins and the dust settles, the team have to get past their own shock – and injuries – to continue the hunt for the devious Dearing (The West Wing’s Richard Schiff).

“He hurt my family,” snarls boss Gibbs (Mark Harmon), who’s never afraid to get his hands dirty. And following his own heart attack, pathologist Ducky (David McCallum) is desperate to get back to work, too, even from his hospital bed.

NCIS may be a bit bellicose for our cooler British heads – when the order comes to terminate Dearing with extreme prejudice, someone says, “This comes from the President. Failure is not an option” – but it works best when it concentrates on the ties that bind the team. Getting their man may not be the most important thing on their minds: getting themselves back on an even keel is.
