Over the years there have been many reasons why pupils have left Waterloo Road. But this is a new one. Phoenix and Harley Taylor have won the lottery. And not just a tenner. They’ve pocketed £200,000 and are merrily blowing it on trainers and designer T-shirts when their dad (John Thomson) turns up to see them. You don’t need a psychology GCSE to realise it’s because he’s heard about their windfall.
The Barry family are keeping an unusually low profile despite mum Carol (Zöe Lucker) acting like a female Fagin, but Michael Byrne and Christine Mulgrew are behaving like daft teenagers – that’s a relationship none of us saw coming.
