The Left to Die Boat

The Left to Die Boat

About this programme

First-hand accounts and witness statements illustrate how, in March 2011, 72 African migrants were forced into an inflatable boat by Libyan soldiers and set out on an 18-hour voyage across the Mediterranean to the Italian island of Lampedusa. The vessel was instead stranded at sea for 15 days, and Sharon Davis hears from the nine survivors as she investigates the circumstances that led to their ordeal. Previously broadcast on BBC World Service.
