Nigel Slater's 12 Tastes of Christmas

Series 1 - Episode 2

Emma Sturgess

Nigel Slater knows how to re-create that post-blowout feeling with Christmas Day centrepieces that are hard to resist. The second part of his festive special deals with food for the big day and beyond.

As we’ve seen in his Dish of the Day series, Nigel is always delighted to refashion leftovers. Here he makes a proper one-pan meal out of the best bits of the big feast and insists that fresh fruit (in this case, oranges in a fruit salad) is the best remedy for excessive enjoyment.

In Norway, Nigel picks up the knack of home-made marzipan for turning into blueberry and marzipan cakes, and visits the fjords for some Scandinavian salmon.
