Just when you thought you had this achingly hip comedy figured out, this viewer was left winching her jaw off the floor. Or, as our calamitous heroine Hannah Horvath puts it, “I never expected that. Not that I know what to expect from you, but I didn’t expect that.” Less astonishingly, the catalyst is her even more calamity-prone pal Jenna, who throws a mystery party. It’s a fitting finale to a brilliant, ground-breaking show, but no need to despair: the second series starts in January.
About this programme
10/10. After her argument with Hannah, Marnie follows through on her threat to find another apartment and moves in with a delighted Shoshanna. Jessa texts everyone inviting them to a party, which turns out to be not quite what they expected, while Hannah offers the spare room to her gay ex-boyfriend Elijah, upsetting Adam - who had hoped to take their relationship to the next level. Last in the series.
