There’s a whistle-stop festive tour around Europe as Radio 3 links up with Madrid, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Riga, Sofia, Gothenburg and Nuremberg for a series of seasonal concerts featuring music ancient and modern — from traditional folk tunes and carols to works by Vivaldi and Poulenc.

A varied programme of Spanish music starts the day (12 noon), followed by a Vivaldi concert from the Baroque Ensemble of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (1.05pm), Advent carols from Denmark (2pm) and Baroque music from Latvia (3pm). Part two of the grand tour begins at 5pm with a choral concert from Bulgaria (the Working Bee Songs should add a buzz!), moves on for a Nordic Winter-themed concert from the Swedish Chamber Choir (6pm) and ends with a live Baroque programme from the German National Museum in Nuremberg (7pm).
