About this programme
Jonas Kaufmann, Marina Poplavskaya and Rene Pape perform in the Jersey Boys' Des McAnuff's incarnation of Gounod's dark tragedy. The Met Opera production was preceded by nervous anticipation given the director's decision to bring the tale of the embittered philosopher into the post-atomic age, yet when opening night came, the stars did not fail to deliver.
