In a series like this, the weekly plots are all very well but it’s the big, overarching storyline we’re really interested in. Where is the all-knowing Machine, and will sinister government forces get hold of it? Will Reese and Finch’s complicated pasts catch up with them? And who the heck is Finch anyway?
Those murky thriller elements are often more intriguing than the hi-tech vigilante stuff, but tonight at least we have an unusual sort of guest star: Astro is a young rapper who was a finalist on the American version of The X Factor. Here he plays Reese’s latest protectee, a 14-year-old whose brother has been killed by gangsters. It turns out he’s not a bad actor.
