Jonathan Maitland highlights the acute shortage of organ donors and follows the plight of a five-year-old boy waiting for, and then undergoing, a life-saving heart transplant. The reporter also visits 20-year-old William Pope, who was first filmed by Tonight last November while on the urgent waiting list for a new heart, and the programme asks why fewer than a third of the UK population have registered as organ donors.
