It’s so much easier to set up conspiracy thrillers (sinister forces, shocking violence, baffling twists) than it is to keep them interesting. Writer Dennis Kelly has fashioned great set-ups in Utopia, but you get the feeling that whenever he runs short of ideas, one character gets a gun out and points it at another’s head. Or worse. When last we saw our gang of fugitives they had captured Conrad Letts, but we still don’t know who Becky is reporting their movements to. Tonight, she has an impossible dilemma.
