We are a nation of tea drinkers, glugging down 185 million cups every day. Yet the break to go with it, once so important that factory workers would go on strike for the privilege, has pretty well disappeared. So in an attempt to resurrect the Great British tea break, Heston Blumenthal enlists the help of an army of tea ladies and the UK’s biggest biscuit makers.
His plan is to create the world’s largest pyramid tea bag (and supersized teapot) — a special brew, if you like — as well as a packet of giant biscuits so that the whole town of Darwen in Lancashire can have a communal cuppa and a dunk.
About this programme
