Theo Paphitis is lost in admiration for a persistent and assured entrepreneur: “You’ve got huge enthusiasm for gloves,” he marvels as the businessman asks for the £100,000 he needs to take his orthopaedic handwear to a wider public.
Generally this week the Dragons are in a spiky mood; in particular Hilary Devey, wearing a pair of earrings the size of TV transmission masts, who fixes her beady eyes on a wriggling hopeful and gives him a telling off: “Please wake up, for your own sake.” Paphitis gets a little testy with another Den visitor: “It’s quite ridiculous, you’re all over the place.” But the Dragons don’t get everything their own way.
About this programme
10/12. A Cambridge-based entrepreneur is overwhelmed by paparazzi when pitching his new business plan, and a couple from Nottingham try to impress with their update of the paintbrush. Other ideas put before the panel include a new type of glove for golfers, a driving school for 14-year-olds and an electronic bed stored in the ceiling, while two friends hope to make money out of thin air. Evan Davis presents.
