About this programme

Documentary following the expansion of two family-run retail businesses - the southern-based 99p Stores, led by Hussein Lalani, and Poundworld, co-founded by Chris Edwards, which has the majority of its shops in the north of England. As filming begins, the former company has 160 stores while the latter has 120, and the film follows each as they expand into each other's respective areas.
