Ever wanted to see Steve Buscemi juggle eggs? Tonight’s your lucky night as another invigoratingly strange episode of Boardwalk Empire sears itself into our subconscious. The juggling is light relief, part of a rather sweet Easter gathering where Eli’s family (he has eight kids; a running joke is that no one can remember their names) host Nucky’s, and it’s all lovely, almost as if the brothers had never tried to kill each other.

Elsewhere there’s wonderful weirdness, including more scenes for Gillian (Gretchen Mol): she seduces a young man who may remind you a little of her late son Jimmy. And there’s a splendid praying scene featuring that pillar of the Church, Gyp Rosetti. He’s quite angry with God.

About this programme

7/12. On Easter Sunday, Eli tries to get back into Nucky's good books at a Thompson family reunion. Elsewhere, Richard Harrow and Jimmy's son Tommy spend the day as guests of the Sagorskys, while Gillian stays at home and makes a sacrifice to improve her future. In New York, after dinner and prayers, Gyp Rosetti heads downtown in search of a blessing from Mafia don Joe Masseria.
