And so it’s the final Salvo, as BBC4 comes up to date with the Sicilian detective’s cases (although we understand new films are being made). Treasure Hunt is a peculiarly episodic tale, verging on the surreal. Salvo becomes a hero after climbing a fireman’s ladder to deal with septuagenarian siblings – religious crackpots taking potshots at sinners.
He takes custody of two blow-up sex dolls, much to the amusement of his pal Ingrid – will these two ever “get a room”? But things turn nasty when a girl vanishes and a loon starts posting Salvo riddles. They lead to his most compromising situation yet, but charismatic star Luca Zingaretti ensures Salvo never loses his cool.
