This week’s biggest band is Soundgarden, the “grunge pioneers” (well done... I think) who split in 1997 but reformed in 2010 and consequently have a new song called Been Away Too Long. It’s quite loud. They’re joined by spindly Northern Irish indie rockers Two Door Cinema Club, and Natasha Khan, better known as Bat for Lashes. If just she and a pianist do a song called Laura, gird yourself: it’s an absolute heart-stopper, an instant classic.
Also in Jools’s orbit of resonance: R&B singer Trey Songz (he’s not Irish, and he’s written more than three) and Sri Lankan-American singer/songwriter Bhi Bhiman.
