Jamie strikes another buffalo stance as he rounds off this week’s quick-fire dinners with the kind of flourishes that only a professional chef, who has someone to clean up after him, can afford to make. It’s been messy from start to finish: if you’re going to get food on the table in a quarter of an hour,
the washing up has to wait.

Today’s feasts are jerk pork with grilled corn and a crunchy salad with crisp tortilla bits, and a rustic minestrone with poached chicken and salsa verde. The calorie counts are a handy innovation for anyone who’s trying to live well — though if you rush about the kitchen like Jamie, you’ll have created a handy energy deficit before you sit down to eat.
