Fans of Aaron Sorkin will delight in this slick political drama from Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Shonda Rhimes. It has dialogue so snappy you’ll feel as if you should take a breath for the actors.
Kerry Washington stars as Olivia Pope, a seemingly omnipotent fixer who used to work for the president. Into her firm of “gladiators in suits” comes idealistic young lawyer Quinn Perkins (Katie Lowes), who quickly finds her idol, Pope, is less than perfect.
With a storyline of a White House intern threatening a sex scandal, and George Bush Sr’s press aide Judy Smith as co-executive producer, there’s grit among the glossy production values.
